Resume Version History#

Trackr's Version History feature helps you maintain a clean workspace while keeping a record of how your resume evolves over time.

Overview#

Instead of uploading a new file every time you fix a typo or update a bullet point, Trackr allows you to upload a new version of an existing resume. This keeps your application history accurate and your dashboard uncluttered.

Why it exists#

We built Version History because job seekers often iterate on a single document. If you apply to a job with Version 1, and later update to Version 2, you still want to know exactly what was in Version 1 if you get an interview for that first job.

How it works#

When you upload a new version to an existing resume entry, Trackr stacks the new file on top of the old one.

  • The newest version becomes the default active document.
  • Older versions are archived but remain accessible.
  • Past job applications that used an older version remain linked to that specific historical version, ensuring your records are always perfectly accurate.

When you view an older application in your tracker, it will display the exact version of the resume that was active at the time you applied.

Step-by-step instructions#

To update an existing resume with a new version:

  1. Navigate to the Resumes tab.
  2. Click on the resume you want to update to open its detail view.
  3. On the right sidebar, locate the Version History panel.
  4. Click Upload New Version.
  5. Select your updated file from your computer.
  6. Add a brief version note (e.g., "Updated bullet points for Q3 metrics").
  7. Click Save Version.

The new version is now active. Any future applications will use this new version by default!

Tips#

  • Always add a version note! It makes it much easier to remember why you made the change when reviewing your history weeks later.
  • You can always download past versions if you need to reference exactly what you sent to a specific employer.

Best Practices#

  • Use versioning for iterative improvements to the same type of resume. If you are creating a completely different resume for a completely different career path, upload it as a brand new resume instead.

FAQ#

Can I delete an old version? Yes, you can delete specific versions from the history panel. However, if that version is linked to an existing job application, deleting it will remove the resume attachment from that application's record.

Can I revert to an older version? To revert, simply download the older version from the history panel, and then upload it as the newest version.
