Integrations#

Trackr's integrations allow you to connect your external communication tools directly to your job application board. By linking these services, you can automate data entry and keep all your communications in one centralized place.

Why it exists#

Manually updating job statuses every time you receive an email or message is tedious. Integrations exist to save you time and reduce the cognitive load of the job search by automatically pulling in updates from the platforms you already use.

How it works#

When you connect a third-party service to Trackr, our system listens for specific triggers (like receiving an email from a known recruiter or a message with a specific keyword). It then parses this information and automatically updates the corresponding job entry on your board.

Supported Integrations#

Email Parser (IMAP)#

The Email Parser connects to any standard IMAP email account. It scans incoming emails for keywords like "interview schedule," "offer," or "update regarding your application" and attempts to match the sender's domain to companies in your Trackr board.

For the best results, ensure the company domain in your job entry matches the domain of the email sender (e.g., if applying to Acme Corp, ensure the website is listed as acme.com).

WhatsApp (Beta)#

Connect your WhatsApp account to forward messages directly to Trackr. This is particularly useful for tracking informal networking conversations or quick updates from recruiters.

The WhatsApp integration is currently in Beta. You may experience occasional delays in message syncing. Please report any issues to support.

Native Gmail & Outlook OAuth

We are currently building direct, one-click authentication for Gmail and Microsoft Outlook. This will replace the need for manual IMAP configuration and provide a more secure, robust connection.

Step-by-step instructions#

Navigate to Integrations: Go to Settings > Integrations.
Select a Service: Click on the "Connect" button next to the service you want to integrate (e.g., Email Parser IMAP).
Enter Credentials: For IMAP, enter your email server details, port, and an app-specific password.
Configure Rules: Set up any specific rules or folders you want Trackr to monitor (e.g., only monitor the "Job Search" folder).
Test the Connection: Click "Test Connection" to ensure Trackr can successfully communicate with your service.
Save: Click "Save Integration" to finalize the setup.

Tips#

Always use an App-Specific Password for the IMAP integration rather than your primary email password. This ensures your account remains secure and allows you to revoke access easily at any time.

Best Practices#

Dedicated Folders: Create a specific folder or label in your email client for job-related emails and point the Trackr IMAP integration exclusively to that folder to avoid unnecessary parsing of personal emails.
Regular Audits: Check your integrations page monthly to ensure the connections are still active and no authentication tokens have expired.

FAQ#

Q: Does Trackr read all my personal emails? A: No. Trackr's IMAP parser only looks for specific keywords related to job applications and only attempts to match emails from domains already present in your job board. We recommend configuring it to only scan a specific folder.

Q: Why isn't my WhatsApp connection working? A: Ensure your phone is connected to the internet and that you haven't logged out of the linked devices session in your WhatsApp mobile app.
