Export Data
Learn how to export your Trackr data to CSV or Excel for external analysis and backup.
Export Data#
The Export Data utility allows you to download your entire job application history from Trackr into a portable format. Whether you want to perform custom analysis, create backups, or share your progress with a career coach, this tool ensures your data remains yours.
Why it exists#
While Trackr provides robust built-in analytics, we believe you should always have control over your own data. The export feature exists to prevent vendor lock-in, facilitate external data manipulation, and provide peace of mind through personal backups.
How it works#
The export engine queries your entire database profile and compiles every job entry, note, contact, and status update into a structured file format. You can choose to export this data as either a standard CSV (Comma Separated Values) or a formatted Microsoft Excel (.xlsx) file.

Step-by-step instructions#
- Navigate to Settings: Click on your profile picture in the bottom left corner and select Settings.
- Go to Data Management: Click on the Data & Privacy tab in the settings menu.
- Select Export Format: Under the "Export Data" section, choose your preferred format: CSV or Excel.
- Choose Data Scope: Select whether to export "All Data" or "Active Applications Only."
- Generate File: Click the Generate Export button.
- Download: Once the file is prepared, a secure download link will appear. Click the link to save the file to your computer.
Tips#
If you plan to import your data into another tool or a custom database, CSV is generally the most universally accepted format. If you want to view the data immediately with built-in formatting and filters, choose Excel.
Export files are generated on the fly. If you have hundreds of applications, it may take a few moments for the download link to appear. Please do not close the window while the file is generating.
Best Practices#
- Regular Backups: Make it a habit to export your data on the 1st of every month to maintain a secure offline backup of your job search history.
- Privacy First: Exported files contain sensitive personal information, including notes from interviews and contact details for recruiters. Store these files securely on an encrypted hard drive or a secure cloud storage provider.
Privacy and Security#
Trackr takes your privacy seriously. When you initiate an export:
- The data is compiled in memory and is never written to a permanent file on our servers.
- The download link provided is a one-time use, time-sensitive URL that expires after 10 minutes.
- We do not track or log the contents of your exported files.
Your data is securely exported and ready for your own analysis!
Do not share your raw export files on public forums or unencrypted channels, as they contain personal identifying information and potentially confidential interview details.
FAQ#
Q: Can I export just a specific subset of my applications, like only the ones where I received an offer? A: Currently, the export tool supports filtering by "All Data" or "Active Applications Only." To filter by specific statuses, we recommend exporting to Excel and using the native filtering tools within your spreadsheet software.
Q: What happens to my data if I delete my Trackr account? A: We highly recommend running a full data export before deleting your account. Once an account is deleted, all associated data is permanently removed from our servers and cannot be recovered.
