Using the Kanban View#

The Kanban View gives you an instant, visual understanding of the health of your job search pipeline.

Overview#

The Kanban View organizes your job applications into columns based on their current status. It provides a visual, intuitive way to see exactly where you stand with every company.

Why it exists#

A job search is a pipeline. You need to know if you're top-heavy (too many applications, no interviews) or bottom-heavy. The Kanban board visualizes this flow, helping you decide whether to focus on applying or preparing for interviews.

How it works#

Each status (Saved, Applied, Screening, Interviewing, Offer) gets its own column. Applications are represented as cards. You interact with the board by dragging cards between columns.

Step-by-step instructions#

Accessing the Kanban View#

  1. Navigate to the Applications section.
  2. In the view toggle switch at the top right, click the "Board" icon (columns).

Moving an Application#

  1. Click and hold the card you want to update.
  2. Drag the card across the screen to the appropriate column.
  3. Release the mouse button to drop the card. The status is updated automatically.

Tips#

If a column gets too cluttered, use the collapse arrow at the top of the column to hide those cards temporarily.

Best Practices#

  • The visual check: If your "Applied" column has 100 cards and "Interviewing" has 0, your resume might need work. If "Interviewing" has 10 and "Offer" has 0, you might need interview practice. Use the board as a diagnostic tool.
  • Daily standup: Spend 5 minutes every morning on this view to plan your day.

FAQ#

Q: Where do Rejected and Withdrawn applications go? A: To keep your active board clean, terminal states (Hired, Rejected, Withdrawn) are hidden from the Kanban view by default. You can view them by switching to the List View.
