Filtering Applications#

Cut through the noise and focus only on the applications that matter right now.

Overview#

Filtering allows you to temporarily hide applications that don't match specific criteria. You can filter by status, date applied, tags, and more, working in both List and Kanban views.

This area is reserved for a future UI screenshot.

Why it exists#

As your Trackr database grows, looking at every application at once becomes counterproductive. Filtering helps you answer specific questions like, "Which remote roles have I interviewed for this month?"

How it works#

The filter engine uses a simple, cumulative logic. Selecting multiple criteria (e.g., Status = Applied AND Location = Remote) will only show applications that meet both conditions.

Step-by-step instructions#

  1. Click the "Filter" button (funnel icon) located above your applications list or board.
  2. Select a category to filter by (e.g., Status).
  3. Check the boxes for the specific values you want to see (e.g., check Interviewing and Screening).
  4. Click Apply.
  5. To remove a filter, click the "X" on the active filter tag that appears above your list.

Tips#

Save your most used filter combinations as "Custom Views" so you can access them with one click next time.

Best Practices#

  • Focus mode: Create a filter for Status: Interviewing and keep it active when preparing for calls so you aren't distracted by jobs you just applied to.
  • Follow-up hunting: Filter by Status: Applied and Date: Older than 2 weeks to quickly identify applications that require a follow-up email.

FAQ#

Q: Do filters apply to the metrics dashboard? A: No, filters applied on the Applications page only affect the List and Kanban views. The Dashboard has its own independent global date filter.
