Managing Resumes in Trackr#

Welcome to the Trackr Resume Hub! This section will guide you through everything you need to know about storing, managing, and optimizing your resumes to land your dream job.

Overview#

The Resumes module in Trackr is your centralized document repository. It allows you to store different variations of your resume, track which resume was used for which application, and leverage AI to score and improve your documents against specific job descriptions.

Why it exists#

Applying for jobs effectively requires tailoring your resume to each role. Keeping track of "Resume_v1_final" versus "Resume_marketing_updated" on your local computer can quickly become chaotic. Trackr's Resume Hub exists to solve this problem by organizing your documents, maintaining version history, and providing intelligent feedback on your resume's effectiveness.

How it works#

When you navigate to the Resumes tab, you'll see a gallery of all your uploaded documents. From here, you can:

  • Upload new resumes in PDF or DOCX format.
  • View the version history of a specific document.
  • Analyze a resume against a saved job description using our AI Assistant to generate an ATS score.

We recommend naming your resumes descriptively (e.g., "Product Manager - Tech Focus") rather than using generic names to help you find the right document quickly.

Step-by-step instructions#

To get started with the Resumes module:

  1. Navigate to the Resumes tab in the main sidebar.
  2. Click the Upload Resume button in the top right corner.
  3. Select your document and provide a descriptive name.
  4. Click Save to add it to your repository.

Once uploaded, your resume is immediately available to attach to any saved job application in Trackr!

Tips#

  • Keep a "Master Resume" that contains all your experience, and create tailored versions from it.
  • Periodically archive outdated resumes to keep your workspace clean.

Best Practices#

  • Always upload in PDF format to preserve formatting, unless an employer specifically requests a DOCX file.
  • Use our Version History feature instead of uploading a brand new file every time you make a minor typo correction.

FAQ#

Can I create a resume from scratch within Trackr? Currently, Trackr is designed to manage and optimize existing resumes. We recommend using a dedicated editor (like Google Docs or Word) to create the document, then uploading the finalized version to Trackr.

Is my resume data secure? Yes. Your documents are stored securely and are never shared with third parties or employers without your explicit action.
